Group leader:Meiying Gao
The group carries out researche on applied microbes such as entomopathogenic microorganisms, magnetotactic bacteria and metal-leaching microorganisms. The work mainly focuses on the finding microbial strains and functional genes, functional genomics, genetic improvement of strains, action mode of Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) and molecular mechanisms of synthesized magnetosomes and bioleaching. The group is also interested in key techniques for preparation and application of biomagnetic nanoparticles (magnetosomes) and biopesticide, biological metallurgy and transgenic plant etc. Work also includes studies of the activity and action mechanism of Bacillus thuringiensis against cancer cells.
